ARTIFICE DKP SYSTEM

What is DKP?
-- DKP stands for "Dragon Kill Points." It allows for an unbiased comparison between guild members when decisions about loot are to be made based on attendance and recent items that have been awarded.

How do I gain DKP?
-- For every official DKP raid you attend, you will awarded "Dragon Kill Points". The instances that we awared DKP for are: Tempest Keep, Serpentshrine Cavern, Gruuls Lair, Magtheridon, and world bosses.

How much DKP are raids worth?
-- Generally speaking you earn 1 DKP per boss killed. A typical SSC raid would net you 5 DKP (5 bosses in 1 run). An Gruuls raid is worth 4 DKP. If no mobs are killed (ie: a failed Gruul raid) you will be given 1 DKP for staying till the final attempt. Farming instances for materials are worth 1 DKP per hour of farming.
World Bosses (ie: Doom Lord K, Doomwalker) are subject to �double dkp� status. 2 DKP will be awarded per attempt until the boss is down. 8 DKP for the first time bonus. Once a world boss is on farm status then they are worth 4 DKP per kill and DKP will not be earned for attempts.

Is there any bonus DKP?
-- Yes. If you are present in the raid from the first pull until the raid is disband then you will earn +1 DKP. Also Raid instances which are not yet "on farm" will be double-dkp, which currently is TK/SSC.

Is there a DKP bonus for attending a "first kill" raid?
-- Yes. You will gain +4 DKP if you are part of a guild "first kill" raid.

Is DKP earned if I am put on rotation?
-- Yes. You must be at the entrance of the instance and ready to go if a space opens up. You can play on an alt - as long as an officer is able to contact you if there is an opening. You will only earn DKP for the bosses that you are waiting for. For example if you are on rotation for two bosses but have to go offline for the last boss, you only earn rotation DKP for the two bosses that you were online for.

Is DKP earned for a learning raid when a boss is not killed?
-- Yes. You will gain +1 DKP for each attempt on the boss. If three attempts (or more) are made then there is a +3 DKP bonus. Once a boss is killed one time then DKP will no longer be earned for attempts on that boss. DKP for boss attempts is subject to our double DKP incentive.

Is DKP earned for a learning raid that is cancelled due to a lack of members showing up?
-- Yes. You will gain +20 DKP if a raid is cancelled before an attempt is made on a boss that is considered to be on learning status. The Guild Council will make the decision to call a raid no later than 30 minutes after the raid start time. Once the boss has been killed then it is no longer considered to be on learning status.

What happens when an item drops?
-- When items drop there will be an "open bidding" process with minimum bids. This means if you can use it, you can bid on it. There will be certain instances where this is limited by your class leader (ie: A rogue will not be allowed to bid on an obvious caster dagger).

The minimum bid on all items is 5 DKP, and bidding is by 5 point increments (5, 10, 15, etc).
Green items will be randomly distributed to the raid (/roll 1-25) or given to people to DE for bank mats if needed.

Why is there a minimum bid?
-- Items have a minimum bid to ensure that DKP earned is spent on items. Even if an item is not needed by anyone in the raid there is still a minimum bid. The reason for this is simple. Certain classes, Druids for example, have little competition in raids. If no minimum bid was set for items that no one else wanted or could use, then those people would be able to get most of their gear for little or no DKP. This would allow them to retain their DKP and easily out bid other classes on items that they have to compete for. Having a minimum bid keeps the system fair for everyone involved.

Who gets to bid?
-- Full members and guests of Artifice get to bid first. If no one wishes to spend the DKP for the item, the bidding will be open to Artifice initiates, and finally to members on probation.

What happens if no one wants to spend DKP for an item?
-- BOE & Recipes are given to the Artifice guild bank. BOP items are disenchanted for guild use. There are no free epic items.

How does the open bidding process work?
-- When an item drops, the raid leader (RL) announces the drop and the minimum bid. The RL will announce, going once, going twice, sold to X after a slow period.

What happens if two (or more) people bid the same amount?
-- If two people bid the same amount, and neither wishes to outbid the other, there will be a /random 100 roll-off. The winner of the roll will receive the item, and DKP will be deducted accordingly.

Are there any bidding restrictions?
-- Bidding cannot begin until the RL has announced the item, who can bid, and the minimum bid.
-- If you are discovered to have "jacked up" the bid in order to make someone else spend more DKP on the item, you will be put on probation.
-- If you are discovered to be in a loot rotation or bid agreement with one or more members of your class (e.g. fixing DKP bids for set items), you will be put on probation.
-- If you are caught communicating with another bidder, either directly or indirectly, asking him or her to stop bidding (or not to bid altogether), for any reason, you will be put on probation. This includes congratulating someone on winning an item prior to, or during, bidding, (either in raid chat, or over Ventrilo).
-- It is your responsibility to know your DKP total. If you bid more DKP than you have (either on accident or on purpose), and you are awarded an item by mistake, you will be restricted from spending DKP on the next raid you attend.

Can DKP be earned without attending a raid?
-- Yes. In order to be a strong raiding guild, certain consumables are needed for each raid. To help finance these consumables, Artifice has started a �DKP for Consumables� program that can be found here: http://www.artificeguild.com/viewtopic.php?t=1710 You may not begin earning DKP for consumables until you have earned DKP from attending a raid. At this point in time there is no limit to how much DKP a member can earn from turning in consumables. This may change if the program is abused.

What happens when I am put on probation?
-- You would be put on probation following the �three strike� rule that is referenced in the Guild Rules. During probation you will be at initiate status for raids. If there is a third violation of any rule, you will be removed from the guild. Please note that for any violations judged to be extreme the Guild Council can decide to remove a member on a first or second violation. Please trust that we will only do this in the most extreme cases and the person being removed will be talked to first.

When is DKP added to my total?
-- DKP is calculated at the end of the every raid. It may take a few days for the RL to update the DKP totals on the website.

What happens if I raid with two different characters?
-- Each character you raid with will be credited to your main character

Can I transfer DKP between characters?
- Yes and No. If you have two active raiding characters, you cannot transfer DKP between them. An active raiding character is a character you decide to bring each week to different raids. If you decide to change your main character and �retire� your original main, you may transfer your DKP from your old main to your new main. There is a two week waiting period before you can spend the transferred DKP. The two week waiting period begins on the first day that you attend a raid on your new main character. At that point in time you would only be raiding as your main. Your "old" main may only attend a raid if the raid leader specifically asks for that character because of a class need.

What happens to my DKP if I leave the guild?
-- Anyone who leaves the guild has one week to decide to rejoin the guild. If they rejoin within that time period then nothing happens to their DKP. An ex-member can continue to raid with Artifice and spend their DKP, however they will only be invited to the raid only when a spot cannot be filled by a member of the guild. If they wish to rejoin the guild after the one week time period has passed then their DKP will be wiped once they rejoin the guild.

What happens if no one can afford an item?
-- If one or more persons wants an item, and no one has enough DKP to meet the minimum bid, you will be allowed to go into the negative in order to purchase the item.

How are Nexus Crystals, Onyxia Scales, and MC/BWL/AQ materials distributed?
-- These items are collected by the raid�s Master Looter and sent to the Guild Bank for use by Members. Requests to use these items should be sent via game mail to Migol. We will use a transparent selection method for distributing crafted materials, based on raid attendance, DKP, class, reliability, and general attitude.

How are other free items distributed?
-- Any item that is considered "free", such as Green & Blue items, will be randomized to the entire raid by the RL. There is no DKP cost attached with receiving a free item. You are free to sell these items as you deem necessary.

How many items can a single person win each raid?
-- You may spend DKP until you have none left to spend. Raid members can win an unlimited amount of free items that are randomed out.

Is there a "Last Set Piece" policy?
-- Active Senior Members in good standing (not on probation), who need one item to complete his or her Set, may claim "Last Piece" before the raid (as noted on the signup and conveyed to a member of the Guild Council before the raid starts).
-- If "Last Piece" is claimed, and that item drops during the raid, the raider who claimed the item receives it for double the minimum DKP bid automatically. If the raider cannot afford the item at that time, or does not wish to spend the full amount, the raider can bid on the item normally against other members of his or her class. If two players claim the same last piece, then there will be a standard roll-off. This policy insures that full set bonuses are obtained quickly amongst our raiders, which in turn helps the progression of the guild.
--- Bidding or rolling on other set pieces (ie: ZG ring sets) are given priority to people who already have one part of the set. This includes all ring and trinket sets. For example if a raid member has one ring in a set of two and the second ring drops, that raid member would have priority for the item before anyone else could roll/bid.
